28th February 2018
Bothel is proud and delighted to have been selected, for the first time, to represent the “Village” category, one of only twelve in the country, in the 2018 Britain in Bloom competition.
Bothel Gardening Club has fronted Cumbria in Bloom for the past eight years and continues to do so again, with the additional responsibility this year of the Britain in Bloom competition.
St. Michael’s C of E School is joining in the competition with great plans to create a wild flower area, to start a woodland area, to encourage wildlife around their pond and to put their new greenhouse into use. The children will be able to help and learn all about the flora and fauna.
With the community joining in, Bothel Gardening Club will continue to plant the over forty tubs around the village and make Broadwell a wetland wildlife area. Bothel Village Hall garden will be a showcase for the new “green” hall.
